| Widest range of fully automatic transmission solutions to improve goods distribution efficiency is presented at Solutrans 2011 |
| Allison Transmission is at Lyon?s Eurexpo from November 29th to December 3rd, Hall 66, booth 668167 |
Paris, France -
Allison Transmission will exhibit its range of truck transmissions for the haulage and urban transport market at Solutrans 2011. The company will discuss ways in which fully automatic transmissions with the latest transmission software can help improve fuel efficiency and fuel economy. On display will be cutaway models of both 2000 and 3000 Series automatic transmissions. The Allison 1000 and 2000 Series transmissions – for trucks with engines up to 300 Hp and 15,000 kg GVW, its popular 3000 Series rated to 450HP, and largest 4000 Series products – designed for trucks with engines up to 680 Hp and 2644 Nm – comprise the widest range of fully-automatic transmissions available in the commercial vehicle market. The urban distribution industry requires trucks to travel under difficult traffic conditions, with numerous stops and starts. Vehicles must be highly productive while ensuring safe and easy operation. Such operating conditions combined with the need to reduce environmental impact have led to an increased focus on fuel efficiency and emissions reduction through continous vehicle design improvements and new technologies. These include vehicle weight reductions, engine and transmission design optimization, improved aerodynamics, more efficient tires, and more appropriate accessories. In particular, transmission design impacts fuel and vehicle utilization which can significantly influence fleet cost and productivity. Solutrans is an ideal forum for fleet operators and Allison representatives to discuss issues surrounding fuel efficiency and fuel economy, along with the advantages that fully automatic transmissions can provide to improve both. Allison experts will help visitors understand the differences between the concepts of economy and efficiency, with a focus on measuring the amount of work done per liter of fuel consumed. Also on the Allison stand, visitors can listen to presentations about Allison transmission performance, the benefits of powershift design over other transmission technologies, and the latest electronic controls features such as LBSS and VAC. Proving to be increasingly popular, Vehicle Acceleration Control (VAC) is Allison’s new fuel economy software feature for driveline optimization. Allison’s VAC defines the vehicle acceleration profile by directly controlling the amount of engine torque based on vehicle load and route topography. It is focused on driver input and controls acceleration to maintain a smooth, fuel efficient acceleration rate, while also preventing aggressive driving practices in favour of safe and economical driving.
