Allison Transmission Introduces DOC For PDA
 
INDIANAPOLIS-Allison Transmission is introducing its latest generation of Allison DOCTM (Diagnostic Optimized Connection) For PDA series, - v2.0 (WTEC), v2.0 (1000/2000) and v2.0 (CEC2).

These tools are full feature PalmTM PDA-based diagnostic software packages supporting control systems for the Allison 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 product families and the 5610, 6610, 8610, 9610 Series (CEC2-equipped) transmissions.

Each Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 diagnostic tool offers users the ease and portable convenience of using a hand-held PDA to access diagnostic data from the transmission control system and conduct systematic troubleshooting of transmission problems with full diagnostic capability. These tools can be used with or without Allison's PC-based diagnostic tool (Allison DOCTM For PC v4.0 or later).

For motor-home owners and service technicians in particular, the Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 diagnostic tools provide a quick, convenient and affordable way to put data from Allison electronically controlled transmissions in the palm of their hand.

Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 gathers data via the Snapshot function. Following collection, these Snapshot files can be transferred (via PalmTM HotSyncTM) to a PC where they can be easily emailed and viewed by using Allison DOCTM For PC.

When used with Allison DOCTM For PC, each Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 diagnostic tool allows users to launch, view or manipulate files utilizing all the features of Allison DOCTM For PC.

Specific features of the new Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (WTEC), Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (1000/2000) and Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (CEC2) include:

  • User selectable views of multiple transmission parameters
  • Ability to view Active and Inactive Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
  • Ability to clear Active and Inactive DTCs
  • User configurable Snapshot function (can store five Snapshot files up to 15 minutes each*)
  • Ability to navigate through all screens without being connected to a vehicle (in
  • off-line mode)
  • User configurable Custom Diagnostic Data list
  • Integrated support for Allison DOCTM For PC v4.0 or later
  • Searchable Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) Reader(r) PDF copy of diagnostic codes and troubleshooting steps included on the Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 installation CDs

    Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 diagnostic tools have been tested with and are known to operate on PalmTM PDAs with the following configurations:

  • PalmTM TungstenTM (C, W, T3*, T2, T), ZireTM 71, V, m125, m130, m500, m505, m515 series, and IIIc
  • Palm Operating System (OS)(r) 3.5 through V5.2.1
  • 8 MB RAM
  • Available PalmTM Universal Connector, supporting RS-232
  • 170KB free PalmTM memory (For each Allison DOCTM For PDA application)
  • Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) Reader(r) For PalmTM OS(r) Version 3.0** (provided on the Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 installation CDs)
  • 3.2MB free PalmTM memory For the Allison troubleshooting procedures (provided on the Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 installation CDs)

    * PalmTM TungstenTM T3 is incompatible with Allison DOCTM For PDA (1000/2000) v2.0 when used in vehicles with the J1850 diagnostic communications network.

    Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (WTEC), Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (1000/2000) and Allison DOCTM For PDA v2.0 (CEC2) diagnostic tools are available on CD only. Allison DOCTM For PDA diagnostic tools, required cabling and translator device can be purchased only through:

    The user will need to purchase:

  • Allison service outlets may already have the appropriate vehicle side connectors.
