Full Power Shifts
Allisons accelerate faster and get more work done in less time than manual and automated manual transmissions. Manual and automated manual transmissions disconnect from the engine when making shifts. It’s just inherent to their design. They actually reduce engine torque and slow down when making a shift. That means during a typical acceleration – like each time you pull away from a stop sign – manual and automated manuals decelerate over 35% of the time. Only one type of transmission offers true full power shifts – a torque converter-equipped automatic. An Allison Automatic transmission is a true automatic.
Shift Schedules
Allison Transmission offers over 100 shift schedules to ensure the Allison Automatic in your vehicle is optimized for fuel economy and performance productivity. Many Allison Automatics offer primary and secondary shift schedules that allow drivers to select between Economy and Performance modes. To further optimize fuel economy and maintain overall superior performance, Load-Based Shift Scheduling (LBSS) is available on select models. It automatically selects between shift schedules based on the vehicle’s actual payload and the grade on which it is operating. Check with your Allison representative to find the ideal shift schedules for your operation.
Prognostics
Most Allison fully automatic transmissions are now available with prognostic features at no additional charge. Prognostics provide instant access to oil level, oil life remaining, filter life and transmission health status. Allison prognostics means less downtime, lower life-cycle costs and, best of all, greater productivity for your fleet by displaying an alert when a specific maintenance function is required. Applies to all models.
Input/Output Functions (I/Os)
Allison offers many I/O functions (software controls) based on the needs of each Vocational Model. Whether you’re picking up school children, packages or refuse, we have the right function for your situation. See the Vocational Model Guide to view the various offerings by Vocational Model.
Power Takeoff Provision
If your application requires the use of a PTO, Allison has a model for you. In most cases, the 1000 and 2000 models offer 3 and 9 o’clock mounting pad positions; the 3000 models offer side/side or 4 and 8 o’clock provisions as well as a top/side option placing the openings at 1 and 8 o’clock; and the 4000 models offer the 1 and 8 o’clock position.
PTOs are available on the following transmissions:
