Load-Based Shift Scheduling (LBSS)
To optimize fuel economy and maintain superior Allison Automatic performance, Allison LBSS automatically selects between Economy and Performance shift schedules based on the vehicle's actual payload and the grade on which it is operating. It has proven to increase fuel economy by up to 5%*.

Prognostics
Allison prognostics allow you to quickly monitor oil life, filter life and transmission health. Prognostics take the guesswork and hassle out of scheduling routine vehicle maintenance to save you time and money while providing maximum protection for the transmission. That means less downtime, lower life-cycle costs and, best of all, greater productivity for your fleet.
Vehicle Acceleration Control (VAC)
Controls aggressive driving practices to improve overall fuel economy. VAC limits acceleration by controlling amount of engine torque based on vehicle load. Tests using a simulated bus duty cycle show VAC helps improve fuel economy by up to 3%*.
Customer Profiles
As part of its plan to redefine leisure travel, Greyhound Lines conducted lengthy and extensive fuel economy and reliability studies to ensure its new fleet was equipped with the most fuel-efficient technology. Based on this, they specified Allison Automatics for their new motor coaches. “We focused on the Allison product because of its huge gains to the overall package of the vehicle, it increased our efficiency.”
– Alexander Cook, First Group America/Greyhound Lines chief engineer
Reduced Engine Load at Stop (RELS)
With RELS, the transmission automatically reduces the load on the engine when the vehicle is at a full stop. RELS not only saves fuel, it reduces overall vehicle emissions all while remaining invisible to the operator. This feature is useful for city traffic and duty cycles with frequent stops forcing the engine to idle.
Shift Energy Management/Low Range Torque Protection (SEM/LRTP)
SEM/LRTP provides better engine/transmission integration to optimize the entire driveline system. The result is faster, smoother, more consistent shift quality, increased powertrain durability, improved performance and an overall more efficient vehicle operation leading to greater fuel economy. This sophisticated communication between the engine and transmission serves as the foundation for other features.

Increased Lockup Availability
B 300 and B 400 models equipped with this feature are able to shift into lockup in 1st range, and lockup stays on through 1st to 2nd shift. The transmission's electronic controls monitor acceleration to determine when to activate lockup.
Smart Controls
Allison Bus Series models are available with electronic controls that meet the specific needs of transit and charter operations.
| Direction Change Enable |
Prohibits shifts from Neutral to Drive or Reverse without first pressing a dash switch or applying the service brakes. Direction Change Enable Flyer |
| Auxiliary Function Range Inhibit |
Will not allow transmission to shift into a moving range unless the service brakes are applied. Auxiliary Function Range Inhibit Flyer |
Secondary Shift Schedule |
Allows driver to select between two pre-programmed shift patterns, quickly and easily, to match driving conditions. Secondary Shift Flyer |
Retarder Enable |
Allison’s electronic controls precisely blend the transmission with the ABS-compatible, integral retarder and the vehicle’s service brakes to provide peak braking efficiency. Retarder Enable Flyer |
